This year, half term coincides with Devon Day (the best day of the year in our opinion) and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which means there are a host of fun events and activities to enjoy during your visit.
In Clovelly, they are hosting a weekend of live music and entertainment at the end of half term to celebrate the Jubilee, find out more here. While nearby, our friends at the Big Sheep are hosting a Jub ‘ewe’ lee tea party, full of live music and one of the biggest tea parties in the county. That’s on top of all the usual activities you can expect to find there during half term – make sure to get your tickets early to avoid disappointment and spend some time enjoying a host of hilarious shows, rides and more.
Another option is the Milky Way Adventure Park. The park is full of rides and activities and with additional savings available for those who book online, make sure there is room in your itinerary for a visit.
RHS Rosemoor has a great event running through half term, as well as events to celebrate the Jubilee, so whether you’re in the region for the whole of the holiday or just visiting at the end, there is plenty to do here. While you enjoy the peace and quiet of the gardens, the kids can take part in The Power of Superbees, a workshop to create flower crowns or join in the Jubilee Party Weekend, full of live music and fun activities.
As North Devon is the UK’s first Surf Reserve, half term is the perfect time to get out and experience the waves. You’ll find sessions and organisations all over the coast offering everything from tuition to equipment hire, so you don’t have to worry about squeezing boards into the car with you. For those of you who are pros, you can take your pick of the beaches, but if you’re a bit rusty or don’t have much experience, visit Woolacombe Beach where the currents aren’t as strong. Alternatively, spend the day at the North Devon Wake Park where you can try your hand at a whole host of water-based fun.
