Brrrr – there’s definitely an autumn chill in the air! But every cloud and all that… the nippiness is the perfect excuse to find North Devon pubs with a real open fire!!
Sometimes, just sometimes, a mulled wine or cider won’t do, and you need to warm the cockles of your soul while sat next to a roaring fire – the flames licking the chills away from your numb toes.
Luckily we’ve got a lot of choice when it comes to pubs with a fantastic fireplace – and here are 22 of the cosiest!
One of North Devon’s two Michelin-starred restaurants sits right on the edge of Exmoor.
They serve good, honest food, locally sourced wherever possible – what better to enjoy in front of a warming fire?!
Weather permitting, you can also eat and drink outside with the wonderful countryside of Exmoor as a backdrop.
Find out more about the Masons Arms.
Clovelly is a must-visit for anyone heading to North Devon, and the Red Lion’s open fire makes it even more alluring in the colder months!
Sit by the fire in the Snug Bar and enjoy a tipple, or dine in the restaurant where you can enjoy fresh seafood, freshly caught from the working Clovelly Harbour just feet away!
Staying in Georgeham, and just down the road from the Kings Arms you’ll find the Rock Inn.
The family-friendly pub, a 17th Century Inn, boasts five cask marque real ales, an extensive wine list and fantastic fresh food.
Enjoy a relaxing winter evening by cosy fireside bars or in the bright and airy conservatory.
Located in the picturesque Kings Nympton the Grove Inn is the quintessential thatched Devon pub; boasting open-fires, low-beamed ceiling and crooked stone walls.
You’ll be met with a warm welcome and the offer of Grove-made food, using fresh, quality ingredients sourced as close to home as possible.
They also only stock ales from the West Country
But that’s not all! There are plenty of other North Devon pubs with open fires – here are a handful more you’ve told us about, ensuring you get your fair share of fireside winter warmth!
