As the UK lockdown continues, we thought we would lighten your day by bringing a little bit of North Devon to you. Travel is not permitted at the moment, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate this incredible region, so here are five things we love about North Devon!
The coastline
Perhaps an obvious choice, but it has to be said. North Devon’s coastline is stunning, not only is it a delight on the eyes, but it has the very best conditions for watersports making it a real haven for surfers.
Lundy Island
Just visible off the coast and accessible via a ferry or a helicopter (which is a reason all in itself to be honest) Lundy Island is part of the North Devon area and houses the south west’s largest colony of puffins among other incredible wildlife.
Exmoor
Amazing scenery, wild ponies, inspiring vistas and plenty of places to explore, the Exmoor National Park is a wonderful place visit whatever the weather. When restrictions are lifted of course.
The history
North Devon is full of historical significance and still features many original structures. The village of Clovelly retains much of its original charm and the Royal North Devon Golf Club is the oldest course in England and is still used to this day.
The food
North Devon is a real culinary haven, particularly places like Ilfracombe and Clovelly. There are food festivals taking place all over the region where you can indulge in mussels and other shellfish.
Honestly, we could go on and on about the many wonders of North Devon! What are your favourite things about the region?
