With the continuing pandemic a number of events have been cancelled across the county, but a fundraising musical event to help the Plough Arts Centre in Torrington is being held at the Big Sheep’s outdoor arena on Friday, 11th September.
Four bands including both of North Devon’s soul bands and two the best folk duos in the area, live on stage on the same night. Soul Intention, the big sound soul and Motown band. This band has been getting audiences up and dancing playing songs with all the classics you know and love from the Blues Brothers and the Commitments that get you on your feet and dancing.
The Medicaments, an 11 piece soul band bringing great soul classics and rock classics from Marvin Gaye to Madness with vibe and energy.
The event’s line up is rounded off with Nick Wyke and Becki Driscoll, two of the West Country’s finest fiddle players join forces to form a fabulous duo with an innovative take on English traditional music and song and Lauren Eva Ward with Jacob Houghton being strong flute driven melodies with guitar accompaniment.
The special event takes place on Friday, 11th September at the Big Sheep outdoor arena from 5.30 – 9 pm. Tickets are priced at £10 (£8 for Plough supporters) and £5 for key workers, children and the unemployed. Bookings must be made in advance and the open air gig will be socially distanced with all proceeds going to the Plough Arts Centre. Two households are permitted to share a bubble on the grass, and you are welcome to bring your own seating and picnic if you wish, however no alcohol is permitted but there are light refreshments, including alcoholic beverages are available from The Big Sheep alongside a hands free cash raffle.
