The North Devon attraction labelled the “Last Narrow-Gauge Railway Adventure” is gearing up for a busy Christmas period!
The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, fresh from unveiling Lyn, the world’s newest steam engine, has festive plans which include both Santa Specials and events which include a free mince pie!
The Santa Specials run on certain dates during December and include an exciting two-mile return journey from Woody Bay Station to Killington Lane and back by steam train. Travellers will experience the magic of Christmas by enjoying an entertainer, meeting Santa and receiving an individually named present.
The Santa Specials take place on 9, 10, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23 and 24 December, departing Woody Bay Station every hour from 11am to 3pm, inclusive.
After Christmas Day come the Mince Pie Specials, running between 29 December and 1 January.
Every passenger who takes a journey on the line during these dates will receive a mince pie with the railway’s compliments.
These trains will depart Woody Bay at: 10:45, 11:30, 12:15, 13:30, 14:15, 15:00, 15:30
The steam trains from Wood Bay Station also run a winter service, on Tuesdays from 7 November to 12 December inclusive.
The times are as follows: 10:45, 11:30, 12:15, 13:30, 14:15, 15:00, 15:30
After the New Year’s Day special journey, the railway will close, reopening in February 2018.
