Currently, England is in the middle of a national lockdown, we recommend that you don’t travel unless absolutely necessary. Government guidance states that you should only go outside to work, for education, food, medical reasons and to exercise, so here are four of our favourite coastal walks around North Devon for you to add to your daily exercise trips!
These walks are great all year around, but at this time of year, the landscape looks even more dramatic, so for those of you further afield, make note for when you can travel again.
Starting from the carpark in Mortehoe village, follow the coast path and enjoy! The views from the path is incredible over the coastline and as for how far you walk and how high you climb – that’s entirely up to you!
Head to one of the many car parks where the burrows meet the estuary and start from there. This walk doesn’t have a set trail or route, so it’s a must for explorers, wherever you choose to start your adventure, you can explore the dunes, the wilder areas and the beach towards Crow Point. The views across Instow, Westward Ho! and Appledore are particularly spectacular.
This can be found along the South West Coast Path in the North of the county. This particular trail starts and ends at Lee and takes you alongside Bull Point Lighthouse, several dramatic cliff tops, ancient farms and heathland – this one is ideal for dogs too!
Wherever you are in Ilfracombe you’ll find a host of different walking trails that vary in length including Capstone which is accessible via a path in the town. Start at Verity and head towards the Capstone, you’ll end up crossing the quay, passing through the harbour and beach areas before you get to the hill.
