If you’ve chosen North Devon for your staycation destination, you’re in for a treat! From beautiful beaches to popular holiday resorts full of attractions and fun, family accommodation.
We’ve put together a couple of ideas of things to do with the whole family while in North Devon to give you some inspiration ahead of your visit!

The North Devon coastline is one of the most spectacular in the UK. In fact, the beaches in this region consistently top polls as being the best beaches in the world! Wherever you like there is dramatic scenery, sand, pebbles and plenty of chances to enjoy a day out by the coast. Whether you want to explore the south west coast path, relax in the sun, build sand castles or challenge yourself to some water sports, you’re in the right place.
From the Victorian architecture on display at the Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe to the many manor houses and historic attractions, there are plenty of ways to immerse yourself in times gone by. Not only that but there is the Victorian cliff railway in Lynton and Lynmouth and the village of Clovelly, which is completely traffic free and retains its original charm.

If your kids need convincing to put the screens down and become one with the world around them, North Devon is the perfect place. From the dramatic scenery of Valley of the Rocks to the surfing opportunities in Croyde, there are plenty of things to direct their eyes away from their devices. Why not head out for a few hours and explore the Exmoor National Park? With the iconic wild ponies and herds of mountain goats, there are hours of fun to be had even without planning out walking trails!
While North Devon is lucky to have such a mild climate, we are still in Britain, so we can’t guarantee that the sun will make an appearance, even if you are visiting in the summer! Don’t worry though, that doesn’t mean an end to your fun, North Devon has plenty of rainy day activities to keep you all entertained including theme parks, water parks, soft play centres, escape rooms and shopping opportunities, so the fun can continue.
Of course, this is just a small selection of things to do as a family while in North Devon, make sure to check out our things to do pages and our what’s on section to see more suggestions for your North Devon staycation!
