24th October 2022
It is nearly that time of year again when the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple get ready to open the annual pantomime. This year it is the popular classic, JACK AND THE BEANSTALK.
This year, Dancing on Ice’s Mr Nasty, judge Jason Gardiner will be headlining in the bad-guy role that everyone loves to boo.
The producers, RED Entertainment, who produced last year’s Cinderella and the previous year’s Gareth Gates’ Christmas Cracker, have this year promised a first for North Devon – flying on stage.
Producer Matt Brinkler said “We’re always looking for a way to better the previous year and give the people of North Devon something they haven’t seen before at the panto. This year we’re raising the bar high, quite literally, by flying our cast off the stage and out above the audience.”
The General Manager at the Queen’s Theatre and Barnstaple resident, Mark Farley, said: “We’re really excited about this year. Jack & The Beanstalk is such a great story and we’ve got a fresh and exciting version of it to show everyone. It’s important to us that people of all ages can really enjoy pantomime and I think we’ve really achieved this.”
The creative team will not reveal exactly who flies or how it happens so if you want to know, you’ll have to catch the panto this year at the Queen’s Theatre!
Alongside Jason Gardiner are fellow cast Shane Rice as Jack Trott, Katie Tonkinson as Jill Wicks, Charles Burden as Dame Trott, Lauren Hendricks as Fairy Aubergine and everyone’s favourite Daisy the Cow, ‘Oh yes there is!’.
The show will run at the Queens Theatre, Barnstaple from 14-31 Dec 2022 and tickets are available from the Box Office on 01271 316523 or online queenstheatre-barnstaple.com
