Things To Do In North Devon This October
As the days get colder and the nights draw in, how can you keep the whole family entertained? Our list of things to do in North Devon this October is here to give you a month’s worth of ideas.
Week Commencing 1st October
Visit Goodleigh Church from 6:30pm on 5th October for their Informal Music Concert. Raising valuable funds for the improvement of their church, the evening will bring you an abundance of local musical talents as well as a ploughman's supper and cocktail on arrival.
Riverside Caravan and Camping Park is set to host October’s Beer, Cider, Ale and Music Festival. With a variety of acts performing and a tipple for everyone's taste buds, it’s going to be a sell out event taking place between 5th and 7th October.
The 6th and 7th October brings you the Apple Festival at RHS Garden Rosemoor. Running from 10am to 4pm see fantastic apple displays, tastings, planting and cultivation, plus many activities to keep the kids occupied. They are also offering everyone with a pre-bought ticket free admission to their gardens on Tuesday 2nd October. Make sure you book your free tickets online before heading down.
The National Hill Climb Association is hosting the Motorcycle Hill Climb event in Hartland on 7th October. With varying classes and competitors all racing to be crowned champions, it’s going to be an unmissable adrenaline-filled day.
Week Commencing 8th October
If food is what you’re after then Johns of Instow is where you need to go. Hosting their very first Soul Satisfying Brunch on 13th October, join them between 11am and 12:30pm for tasty food, live music and feel-good moods.
Visit Tapeley Park on Sunday 14th and Thursday 18th October for a Solo Exhibition by Martin Ash (AKA Sam Spoons) - the life-long artist’s first and final exhibition.
Week Commencing 15th October
Get spooky at the Big Sheep with the Halloween Toddler Takeover. The Jiggy Wrigglers are joining forces to give your little ones an interactive music show from Monday 15th to Friday 19th October.
Get dressed up for the Milky Way’s Halloween Hocus Pocus from Saturday 20th to Sunday 28th October. Get involved in your very own special school for witches and wizards, plus spooky swamp dodgems and much more.
Chocolate lovers, listen up! Affinity Devon are hosting a Choc Fest which is not to be missed. Celebrating all things chocolate, enjoy delicious treats, bakes and sumptuous delights, with a very special visit from Willy Wonka himself. Head down from 10am to 4pm on 20th and 21st October.
North Devon’s biggest celebration of local food and drink is back for another year. Head to Barnstaple’s Pannier Market on Sunday 21st October for the FOODfest 2018.
Head to the White Moose Gallery for Matthew Broadhead’s latest exhibition, ‘A space for humans: The moon and earth’, from 19th October to 17th November.
Travel back in time at the Watermouth Castle from 20th - 28th October. Anyone visiting during these dates in full halloween fancy dress will pay just £7 for admission!
Week Commencing 22nd October
Get into the full swing of Halloween with a week of spooky goings on at The Big Sheep. Take the kids along during half term for the biggest and best halloween festival in the South West.
Devon’s hard rockers are heading to The Factory at Petroc on Friday 26th October from 7pm. The Fallen State are ready to give you a huge night of rock music with special guest Levi Tucker compering the show.
Join the team at Stowford Farm Meadows on 26th October for a night of spooky frights, like the mummy wrap, undead dance-off and hunt the ghoul games.
Week Commencing 29th October
Phansit’s Kitchen Thai Pop-Up takes over Johns of Instow on 1st November. For one evening only, Phansit will be cooking up a 3 course Thai meal to serve 18 guests exclusively at the cosy Instow cafe.
Barnstaple Pannier Market plays host to a selection of Artisan craftsmen on 4th November. The event will feature an eclectic mix of exhibitors across a whole range of disciplines: from home-made sweets to doggie treats, headdresses to statement jewellery, ceramics to fine art, and everything in between.
