Things To Do In North Devon This November
With autumn in full swing and Christmas just around the corner, North Devon has blossomed into a picture of amber and red, but what can you get up to in the area this November? Let us help you discover activities the whole family can get involved in.
Firework Extravaganzas
The month of November starts with a bang as the weekend is filled with an abundance of firework displays and delicious food. Phansit’s Kitchen Pop Up is at Johns of Instow on Thursday 1st. The 2nd November sees the Appledore Pirates Bonfire Display from 7pm and the Fireworks in the Field held in Woolacombe from 6pm with the fireworks starting at 7:45pm.
Head to Torrington Rugby Club on 3rd November for their annual bonfire and firework celebrations, including food and drink, from 6pm with the fireworks at 7pm. Braunton Cricket Club also have a night of family firework fun on the 3rd, raising money for the three schools in the village. Tickets cost just £5 including live music, entertainment and food; it’s a real family affair.
The 4th November is Barnstaple Round Table's local display at the rugby club along with Lynmouth who are hosting their very own lantern parade from 5pm, as their Beachside Bonfire Bonanza gets underway.
If you’re looking to rock into November, then head to The Factory at Petroc on Saturday 3rd November to see Reef perform live.
It’s your last chance to explore the Dark Skies of Exmoor; hosting over 40 events from stargazing sessions to talks and nighttime adventures, it’s an outdoor adventure not to be missed.
Week Commencing 5th November
As the first full week of November rolls around, there’s no shortage of events to keep the family occupied. The 5th November is the Big Sheeps Bonfire Night; take the little ones along for Junior Fireworks from 6pm, live fire shows, indoor play and plenty of street food to keep the energy levels up. The main fireworks start from 7:45pm so make sure you arrive early to get a great spot.
Dartington Crystal are offering free entry to the factory and buy one get one free on hand casting throughout November and December - the perfect place to visit on a rainy autumn day.
The Factory continue their awesome line up of November events with The Red Hot Chilli Pipers performing on Friday 9th November, followed by Dub Pistols on the 10th.
Merry Harriers Garden Centre is hosting their Christmas Display Grand Opening with a special appearance from Father Christmas. Free face painting, mulled wine and mince pies for all. Head along from 10am on 10th November for the start of the festive celebrations and 25% off all Christmas decorations.
The 11th November at 7:06pm sees the ‘Cry For Peace’ at the war memorial in Ilfracombe, the time the guns actually fell silent during WW1.
Week Commencing 12th November
Take a trip to Lynton Town Hall on Friday 16th November for a barrel of laughs with Angela Barnes.
Green Lanes Shopping Centre has its grand festive opening of Santa's Christmas Grotto on the 18th. Every child that visits Santa will receive a present, badge and photo to take home with them.
Riverside Caravan and Camping Park have a weekend of musical excellence; sing along to a George Michael Tribute Act on Friday 16th and Gary Barlow night on the 17th.
A tradition that’s been going on for years, The Clovelly Herring Festival is an event the locals flock to year on year. Starting at 10am on Sunday 18th, it celebrates local produce and sustainable fishing.
Week Commencing 19th November
Fancy taking a trip back to the 80s? Martin Kemp is heading to The Factory, Petroc on Saturday 24th November for one of the hottest 80s DJ sets in the UK.
The Carlton has Nigel Mason joining them for a weekend of art. Arrive on Friday 23rd and immerse yourself in the life of a real artist and the learn tricks of the trade from some of the very best.
One of the biggest events in the Ilfracombe calendar, The Lighting of the Lights takes place on Friday 23rd November. It starts with a lantern parade and ends with the switch on of the festive lights.
