A group of around twenty ballet dancers came together recently at Ilfracombe Harbour to film a ballet piece they had all learned over Facebook during lockdown.
The group learned the routine via live streams on Facebook and a couple of socially distanced sessions at Braunton Rec. The dancers, who are all from the local area and are a mix of ages and abilities, didn’t want to let the coronavirus restrictions stop them from dancing and decided to come together at Ilfracombe Harbour to perform and record the ballet piece.
The day of filming was actually the first time the dancers had all danced this particular piece together and loved performing it for the crowds that gathered in the harbour to watch. You can watch the video online here.
Emma Trueman said: “It was a joyful experience and we created a lockdown memory to be treasured.”
The project was created and choreographed by dancer, Sarah King and the video was filmed, produced and edited by Gemma Pons. Photos were taken by the group and used with their permission.
