Visit Devon’s Director Sally Everton has been busy continuing to drive promotion of Devon as a county and keeping tourism industry up to date with everything that is happening nationally.
In September, Sally has been working on the following:
- Finalise itinerary for Steve McKenna - journalist visit next week (The Western Australian with 1.8m reach) (external)
- Meeting with DCC - Open up to Skills project ongoing. (external and internal)
- Spotlight interview - subect extending the tourism season in Devon - tied in well with our launch of the Autumn Winter Campaign (external)
- Radio Devon Morning Show with Fitz - hour long overall chat on toursim across Devon and general news items (external)
- DCMS request - link to DCC tot ake forward (external)
- Meeting Exeter University - Sarah Snow (external)
- Meeting with Visit South Devon - re collaborative working and moving forward. (and subsequent follow up discussions)
- Webinar - ETOA re consumer travel and survey results coming out of the pandemic
- Attend Safe re-opening of Beaches and Tourism Task Force Group - feed back the challenges facing the sector to be fed back into the national group and up central government (external and internal)
- Film edit and agree schedule with Paul for the Autumn Campaign - ready to run
- Complete UKInbound application form for membership and submit (internal)
- TSWRC data analysis from the impact survey share with wider group (external and internal)
- Exeter Visitor Recovery Group submit national industry update from DCMS/Government and SWTPG activity ( monthly) (external)
- VB DMO update meeting - present update from Visit Devon along with Shakespears' England and Sheffield (external and internal)
- Follow up on a daily basis with general admin from members enquires, non members enquiries, journalist requests, image requests etc. (internal)
- Complete and submit final reports from EFAF to VE (external)
- DCMS request - link to DCC tot ake forward (external)
- Brend Hotels - liaise with Kelly Brend and future plans for 2021/2022
- Various calls and meetings this month with Public Health England alongside other DMO's aross the region tracking Covid spread and August (external and internal)
- Cruise Britain as part of the Connections project - 'Britain is open for cruise business' Plymouth Torbay and Dartmouth (external)
- Collate marketing and event plan for 2021/22 and cirulate (internal)
- Marketing meeting - Visit Devon (internal)
- Membership meeting - planning for next 3 years
- Nazia Parveen - new travel editor at the Guardian, submit content re Autumn Staycations
- GSWTP meetings - back to fortnightly meetings (external)
- Meeting with GWR - Ruth Powell re Match Funding and Explore Devon by Train campaign
- Meeting with Karen Roebuck - TSE Excursions Manager (Devon stand) ongoing and working with the area tourism partners for possible collaboration (external)
- Ongoing feed in to the HEROG and SWTPG papers - ongoing (external and internal)
- Prep and attend British Tourism and Travel Show (BTTS) 3 days at NEC (external)
- DMO Review - 84 page detailed report published, read and share topline points with board and others. (external and internal)
- Submit content to DCC for their tourism summary - Jamie Evans (external)
- Visit Britain webinar - recovery and the way forward with digital campaigns
- Various journalist requests - looking ahead to international recovery, Lucy Cheung, for Agatha Christie for China News Weekly and FT China, , Vegan and Travel FAM for Nov; Claire Keenan Autumn Winter content
- Marketing campaign Golden Ticket with DATA - ensure content, logos and landing page set up and ready to go (internal and external)
- Begin follow up from BTTS meetings - in the main group and coach organisers and tour operators
- Attend East Devon AONB Annual meeting (chaired by Alistair Handyside)
- Daily admin update - requests for letters of support with planning applications, member enquiries, consumer enquiries etc
