Update from Sally Everton - Director

Visit Devon’s Director, Sally Everton, has been busy driving promotion internationally and encouraging visitors to come to Devon.
In May Sally has been working on the following:
Domestic:
- Ongoing meetings with various members and potential new members about the VisitDevon benefits and being involved
- Attend DMO round table discussion run by DCMS in Bristol and chaired by the Event Industry Board re business visits and events outside London.
- Attend a VisitEngland Business events workshop and strategy planning in London re driving domestic and international meetings to the regions (targeting the North American market in the main)
- Organise content for 5 films for Devon covering various themes - meeting with Soundview Media
- Working with the ATP's re activity and also developing business tourism to the region
- Attend lunch in London with Sally Balcombe CEO of VisitBritain - update on activity, funding, new initiatives and domestic marketing
- VisitDevon board meeting at Bovey Castle
- Applying for funding pots that become available to enable further activity
- VisitDevon AGM and Members Update day
- Keeping in touch meeting with MDDC
Press and blogger pieces:
- German blogger with 27.3k followers, high end family market. Met at Bovey Castle
- Two in Devon, Swallows Flight in the SouthHams and Hayleys Hut, Bideford, North Devon.
- Woods and Wildlife, Okehampton Devon and Channeling Nature - Lundy
International:
- Attend Explore GB in Harrogate- 50 pre scheduled appointments, 90% were new contacts, mostly US, Canadian, Dutch & German.
- ExploreGB gala dinner with buyers and jounalists (Trade) The now former tourism minister, Michael Ellis in attendance.
- Meeting with Steve Southcott, Inernational Trade Advisor - DIT's. Update on funding pots working with Government
- Follow up on ExploreGB contacts
- Follow up on ATM leads - working with particpating partners
- Enquiry for 3 x group for July, August, September - South Devon (35 pax)
- Enquiry from Probus NZ for group of 30 for 5 days September 2020 to Devon. Meeting with Probus groups in the county.
- Sante Communications - NY Norma Davidoff journalist visit August (5 days - itinerary for Devon_
- Enquiry for US group of 16 covering Devon for 4 days - Oct 2019
- Enquiry for German walkers group of 16. 10 days - covering Devon and Cornwall. Sept 2019. Active retired professionals.
DEF Project:
- Nearing completion for this round of the project working closely with our project co-ordinator and our research and insight consultant based in the US
- SQW evaluation process for our DEF project - Holly Waddell SQW . Details and analysis of whole project
- Follow up and host tour operators who are featuring our itineraries/products
- Completion of the travel trade directory
- Website went live - https://www.cornwall-devon.co.uk/
- Follow up with Kirk McDonald (at ExploreGB) 4 tour operators for Australia to feature our themed itineraries working with the 3 DMC's in England
- Printed collateral with 5 themed itineraries inserts included published for ExploreGB and US sales missions. Cornwall & Devon
- Follow up with Heart of SW England LEP and update on project
- Continued US Market Workshops by Simon Bradley - those who missed this the opportunity to attend a 1 hour webinar on June 18th. Details to follow.
