Latest updates from VisitBritain and VisitEngland
15th December 2020
VisitBritain and VisitEngland has updated their latest guidance regarding coronavirus.
Information on eligibility for Christmas Support Payment for wet-led pubs
The Christmas Support Payment is for wet-led pubs (pubs that predominantly serve alcohol rather than provide food) that have been impacted over the festive season because of local restrictions.
If your business is eligible, you may be entitled to a one-off cash grant of £1,000 from their local council if they are in Tier 2 or 3 restrictions. The criteria is decided by the councils in these areas, you can find out more here.
Business evictions ban extended
Business owners who have been affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic will be protected from eviction until the end of March 2021. The extension will help protect anyone from the threat of eviction and will give landlords and tenants three months to come to an agreement on unpaid rent. However, where businesses can make payments, they should do so. Further guidance will be published in the next few weeks.
The Job Retention Scheme has also had changes. The Scheme has been updated to inform employers that they do not need to be facing a wider reduction in demand or be closed to be eligible to claim for employees who are clinically vulnerable or at the highest risk of illness from the coronavirus.
