
Tree Planting at Woolacombe (National Trust)
About
The National Trust will be planting over 100,000 trees in North Devon over the next 3-5 years. This will help to improve conditions for wildlife such as birds, bats and butterflies and help to provide a habitat haven and also helps the planet.They need your help and are asking for people to join them in a number of locations access North Devon. This event is at Woolacombe and it's a great family event- remember where you plant your trees and watch them grow old.
Meeting Location: Entrance to Marine Drive Car park Woolacombe
They'll be planting approximately 5000 trees during February. These will be mainly oaks but these will be accompanied by a wide range of UK native species, 13 different species to be exact. For example Hawthorn, Alder and Hazel.
– They'll be planting in the Woolacombe valley on a site called Woolacombe Down East, not far from the Woolacombe National Trust Allotments.
- They're planting trees to make space for nature, link up Woodlands across North Devon and to help towards creating a healthier environment.
What you need and what you'll be doing:
– Stay as long and plant as many trees as you like.
– Please wear sturdy footwear you don't mind getting muddy, there's lots of stamping on spades and heeling in trees.
– Spades will be provided, or if you have one bring it along.
– Jobs include digging holes for the trees, planting the trees, feeding them and attaching tree guards.
