Ilfracombe Lions Club Swimarathon
About
Ilfracombe and District Lions Club have been raising money for local good causes and people in need for over 40 years. Lions run the Swimarathon at the Ilfracombe Pool & Fitness Centre each February. At the 2018 Swimarathon 26 teams took part from 13 organisations and in total they swam more than a whopping 2,500 lengths and raised £4,142.
Each team of six swims in lane for 55 minutes and raises money through sponsorship for the number of lengths completed. The Lions collect all the money from the event - half is then returned to the team and the other half is redistributed by the Lions to local good causes.
