'Every Brilliant Thing' to be performed onboard SS Freshspring

A powerful, often hilarious yet poignant play will be staged exclusively onboard (the main covered deck) of steamship Freshspring on Friday 9th September 2022 (5.30-7-30pm). Philip Robinson, a renowned actor who recently created and toured 'All is Mended' across mid and North Devon is returning with 'Every Brilliant Thing' to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day and to help raise funds for The Samaritans (North Devon and North Cornwall division) and SS Freshspring Trust.

"I was a 7-year-old boy when my Mum tried to take her own life. So, I made a list for her, of everything worth living for. Come and be a part of it". In this solo performance, the audience are invited to help make some parts of the play and as every audience is different, every performance is specially created for that group of people.

The play, created by playwright Duncan MacMillan, raises awareness around mental health issues such as depression and suicide, yet addresses these in such a way to highlight the irrepressible resilience of the human spirit and to explore humanity and human kindness, perhaps at a time when it seems in short supply.

Money raised from the sale of the tickets will be donated to two local charities, North Devon and North Cornwall Samaritans and the Steamship Freshspring Trust.

Tickets are £25 per person and includes entry to the ship, a free drink and nibbles upon arrival, an exclusive performance from Freshspring's very own acoustic band and the 75-minute performance of the play, 'Every Brilliant Thing'.
