Some of them even provide children’s clubs or creche services too, so that the parents can have a bit of a break too!
To tire everyone out, hit the beach for some sandcastle building and games, or hire bikes and head out along the traffic-free Tarka Trail; there are plenty of great pit-stops along the way offering delicious and healthy snacks, and a number of places even offer pre-ordered picnics for your journey.
In fact, a picnic is an ideal way to have fun while on a budget. Gather your favourite snacks together and head out for a day exploring Exmoor or following one of the many nature trails or coastal paths that can be found in the region. The majority of the coast forms part of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with the Biosphere and the various landscapes on Exmoor, you’ll never be short of places to enjoy and new experiences to have.
North Devon’s top attractions and natural landscape offers fun days out to suit all ages, interests and weather conditions,. Choose from steam trains or rollercoaster rides, creative workshops, museums and art galleries, outdoor adventures or making friends with wildlife.
Wherever you look there is tons of family fun to be had in North Devon and Exmoor! With a host of attractions to enjoy, there’s an option to suit all ages and interests. If your kids are fans of wildlife you’ve come to the right place – we've award-winning aquariums and zoos, to farm attractions and nature trails.
You may even get to feed the lions, take a rockpool ramble or hold a tarantula if you’re feeling brave!
If you’re thinking about getting your family started on a new water sport, lessons and gear are readily available in North Devon thanks to its reputation as being the surfing capital of the UK. Not only are there chances for you to go out with an instructor, but you can also explore the waves on your own if you’re feeling brave enough and you can rest assured that most main beaches are lifeguard protected during the summer months, with many achieving the Blue Flag status for water cleanliness.
