Welcome to Spreacombe Gardens: Your Quiet and Relaxing Holiday Destination on our Private Estate that is managed for nature.
Tranquillity Awaits in Our Family-Run Cottages
Nestled in a serene, wooded valley, Spreacombe Gardens offers six family-owned cottages where dogs and children are always welcome. Our guests enjoy quiet relaxation, fresh air and the invigorating coastline.
Whether you’re exploring the estate’s private walks or heading to the stunning Woolacombe Beach just 10 minutes away, your holiday experience is yours to shape. Many of our guests - over 50% - return time and again, forming friendships that last a lifetime, others privately collect the key and just switch off from the speed of city life.
Get back to Nature
Located in the peaceful Spreacombe Valley, our estate has been managed for by the Dennis family for over six decades. Originally acquired for its trees, the estate now features thriving woodlands, scenic ponds, and an abundance of wildlife. Bring your camera to capture the beauty of our estate walks, or enjoy the tranquillity of the fields, perfect for a gentle stroll. Remember to respect our lambs and sheep while exploring.
Sustainable Holiday
We have an ongoing cycle of tree planting and following this the subsequent weeding and management to allow our trees to flourish. Less known by the popular press, permanent grassland is also an excellent carbon capture; we are proud that our meadows fall into this category. We have solar panels on our cottage roofs and an EV charging point fitted for guests with electric cars. It goes without saying that we recycle wherever possible and are trying to limit our single use plastic by either refilling or in the case of milk using glass bottles. Preserving nature and our planet is important to us and we try to do what we can.
Close to North Devon’s Best Attractions
Spreacombe Gardens is under four miles from the rugged North Devon Coast, making it the ideal base for exploring Woolacombe, Putsborough, Croyde, and Saunton Sands. Outdoor enthusiasts will also love the South West Coast Path and the Tarka Cycleway for their stunning views and invigorating trails.
Family-Friendly Cottages
Our six cottages form a semicircle around a shared lawn, each with its own picnic table and seating area. Ideal for families, couples, or larger groups, all cottages are single-story and thoughtfully equipped for a self-catering holiday. For group gatherings, The Old Barn—a function room with a kitchen and WC—offers the perfect space for celebrations or communal meals (curfew at 10 pm).
Individual Cottage Highlights
Fuchsia Cottage – Sleeps 5, dogs welcome
Located near the pedestrian gate to the RSPB wood and ponds, Fuchsia Cottage is ideal for families or couples seeking extra space. There is a well equipped kitchen, wood laminate floors in the communal area and a private outdoor seating area. Parking is just by the door. Fuchsia is the most secluded of our cottages.
Hibiscus Cottage – Sleeps 4, dogs welcome
Perfect for families with young children, Hibiscus is near the playhouse and sandpit. Its lounge windows overlook the play area, offering peace of mind for parents. This pet-friendly cottage is often paired with Fuchsia for group stays as the two doors are close to each other making communal living easy. Although Hibiscus only sleeps 4, it has two double bedrooms and a single.
Camellia Cottage – Sleeps 4, dogs welcome
Whilst all the cottages are on one level, with ground floor bedrooms, Camellia has a lower step at the entrance for easier accessibility than some of our other cottages. Featuring a modern kitchen and cozy interiors, it’s perfect for guests seeking a comfortable and functional retreat.
Begonia Cottage – Sleeps 4, dogs welcome
Centrally located near the laundry facilities, Begonia is ideal for pet owners with easy access to an outdoor hose. This single-story cottage provides convenience and comfort for your North Devon getaway. Begonia sleeps 4 over 3 bedrooms (double, twin, single) allowing various sleeping formations.
Clematis Cottage – Sleeps 4 (Pet-Free)
Kept pet free to accommodate guests with allergies, Clematis Cottage offers a tranquil and dog-free environment. Enjoy the same great amenities while staying in a serene, semi-detached space. Note dogs may be in the grounds but should be kept on lead in the environment of the cottages.
Azalea Cottage – Sleeps 5, dogs welcome
Situated at the top of the slope, Azalea boasts panoramic countryside views , well placed for an evening drink as the sun sets on the front later than the other cottages. With ample space for families, children, or groups, it’s a fantastic choice for those seeking a memorable stay. Azalea has 4 bedrooms, 2 doubles and 2 singles, accommodating 5 guests in whatever formation you choose.
