If you want to make sure your child has a holiday to remember, look no further than North Hayne Farm Cottages.
This award-winning baby, toddler and child friendly accommodation which is located within easy reach of the leading North Devon attractions and award-winning beaches is a great base for your Devon holiday. The site is on the edge of Exmoor National Park and the traditional market town of South Molton. We have a purpose built accessible children’s farm on site which offers twice daily activities that support learning within the early Years and Key Stage 1 curriculum, perfect for keeping their brains active during school holidays!
North Hayne Farm is great fun for all ages and all generations of the family, young children and toddlers are especially welcome, we have a well-equipped purpose-built play barn for the under-7s, as well as a games room that caters for all ages. The fun isn’t limited to indoors, we have several outdoor areas within our grounds, including a den building area, activity trails and organised bat walks during the school holidays. As we’re a farm, children can also get involved with life on a working farm, they can bottle feed the lambs in the spring, walk and groom the goats, feed the hens and collect eggs. Plus, there’s the opportunity to have free daily donkey rides – our donkeys love giving rides and being fed carrots, so be prepared for your children making a few new friends while on holiday!
The farm is also suitable for all children with additional needs. We are the first self-catering business in North Devon to receive an Autism friendly award. North Hayne Farm also received Best Self Catering Accommodation in the South West 2019/20 at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards, as well as Receiving Gold for Accessible and Inclusive Tourism, Best Self Catering Accommodation of the Year and Winner of Winners at the 2019 Visit Devon Awards. As well as this, North Hayne Farm Cottages also received the Best Self Catering in England award in 2020.
The grownups don’t have to feel left out, there is plenty for them to do while on the farm too! You can unwind in your own private hot tub, partake in a relaxing treatment from one of our therapists or spoil yourself with one of our packages.
Families have a choice of cottages, all of which are named after characters you’ll remember from your favourite childhood books. For larger families, we have our Jemima Puddleduck cottage, spread over three stories with a private decking area and hot tub which sleeps 6 plus a cot. Alternatively, take a look at Samuel Whiskers, also a larger cottage which was once an old coach house. This also features a log burner for those visiting us on the cooler nights.
Smaller families can enjoy Tom Kitten, which is a single storey cottage suitable for those with very young children or those needing easier walking access. This along with Katie’s Corner are perfect for couples, grandparents or small groups.
We can also accommodate large groups of more than one family in the Jeremy Fisher cottage, just ask when you make your booking.
The farm offers a wonderful opportunity to allow children to grow in confidence and our extended support for children with Autism and other additional needs means no one needs to be left out of our feeding routine, animal handling sessions or other fun activities around the farm. We have sheep, alpaca, ducks, hens, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, goats and pigs to keep the kids entertained. While the children are off with the animals, you can enjoy one of our pampering treatments which take place in the privacy of your own cottage, just lay back and relax knowing your children are having the time of their lives.
While there are plenty of things to do onsite, North Hayne Farm is ideally situated for you to explore the Devon area at your leisure. We’re close enough to the many beaches of the coastline and there are extensive walks and leisure activities in the local area. Speak to our team, we’ll be more than happy to help with your itinerary.
