Damage Barton is a 16-acre campsite set on a 600-acre beef and sheep farm in an AONB. It has been with Lethbridge family since 1962 and there are now three generations of the family living on the farm.
Situated on a headland on the beautiful North coast of Devon, the campsite has outstanding sea views - on a clear day, you can see the coast of South Wales, some 24 miles north, across the Bristol Channel! The campsite has much more than views to offer though. As orderly as it is expansive, it has two heated shower blocks maintained to a markedly high standard, including family bathrooms, disabled shower rooms, laundry facilities, washing up sinks, wetsuit washrooms and there is an on-site shop, open daily throughout the season which offers a vast range of food items which are provided fresh daily. We also stock an assortment of beer and wine, as well as a range of gifts, recently, we launched a new summer clothing range, which includes sunglasses and footwear.
There is a Caravan and Motorhome Affiliated Club area onsite, which is open to members only. This area is situated towards the top of the campsite with pitches having views across the rest of the site and towards the sea. This section of the site offers large, immaculately kept hardstanding pitches. The independent part of Damage Barton, open to members and non-members and is located at the lower part of the campsite. All pitches over look the sea and have magnificent panoramic views across the coast. We accept tents, trailer tents/folding campers, motorcaravans and caravans all with or without electric hook-ups. We can offer large immaculately kept grass or hardstanding pitches.
We pride ourselves on the very high standards of cleanliness across all facilities and grounds. We have a range of facilities including a reception area and information centre where our staff can offer you advice on how to spend your time with us. The site also includes a large open area for ball games, a kite flying field and picnic area, three dog exercise areas, direct access to the South West Coast Path and wifi available across the whole site.
Being part of a working farm offers added attractions giving campers the chance to see Easter lambing, spring calving and, of course, the remarkable panoramic sea views with extensive access direct from the site across farmland to the network of footpaths, including the SW Coastal Path and the Tarka Trail cycle path, which is just 1 mile from the site entrance. The farm covers an area of 580 acres and runs between two valleys, which includes land rented from the National Trust at Bull Point and on the coast between Bull Point and Lee Bay. Staying on site will give you the opportunity to meet our 500 ewes, which can produce an average of 900 lambs at Easter and some 100 cattle. Conservation is also high on the campsite’s agenda. Having run a successful conservation stewardship for 15 years, Damage Barton has contributed to projects including the maintenance and protection of dry-stone walls, hedgerows, Devon banks, and the farm’s own millpond and wildflower meadow. Walkers can enjoy the results of this attention, using the nearby network of footpaths.
Exploring on foot, campers can access Lee Bay, Bull Point and Morte Point; moving further round the coast takes you to Woolacombe’s three-mile wide Blue Flag beach. Shell seeking, rock pooling and shipwreck spotting can be pursued at Barricane, Lee and Rockham respectively. The onsite information centre details all the local attractions, including the golf courses, swimming pools and National Trust properties, as well as where to eat out and information on a whole host of nearby attractions including The Milky Way and Exmoor Farm among others.
