Chancery House and The Lodge stand on the approach to Exmoor, under a mile from the national park boundary.
Situated just minutes from the North Devon link road, both accommodations are ideally placed for those wishing to combine trips across Exmoor or to the beaches in North Devon as well as visits to local towns, or indeed, attractions to the south.
The main house offers accommodation in double, twin or family room format with freshly cooked breakfast included in the price.
There is an upstairs sunroom in which to relax, with far reaching views across the local countryside.
The Lodge is our self catering cabin sited alongside the main house, and compromises a very rural take on the studio apartment layout.
It features a king size bed, ensuite WC and shower, kitchen, seating and dining areas, plus a patio and lawned area.
There are a range of good dining pubs and restaurants within a few miles, catering for a wide range of meat or vegetarian tastes.
The local town is South Molton, which is a 5 mile drive away. It has twice weekly pannier markets, which are very popular and next door is the small but interesting local museum.
The Honey Farm is just off the North Devon link road, having relocated from its previous position in the town itself. It now has space to expand and is definitely an interesting visit.
Other nearby attractions are the Exmoor Zoo, which is minutes away from Chancery House and houses very interesting varieties of rare and endangered animals in a beautiful setting.
Arlington Court with its carriage collection, beautiful house and gardens is a few miles further and an alternative for those not wanting to head for the beaches. A little further again are the twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth where the cliff railway connects the two, for those not wanting to drive up and down the hills. Just outside Lynton is the unique area known as The Valley of the Rocks, with its dramatic scenery and wild goats!
