A self-catering holiday is the best way to enjoy yourself without the stress of sticking to hotel time tables and for those travelling with small children, can separate out meal times so everyone can eat at a time that suits them. The self-catering properties in North Devon come in all shapes and sizes, so finding the right property to accommodate your party should be no problem at all. From family-friendly cottages or romantic getaways, to stag parties and reunions, you’re sure to find the perfect place to enjoy your holiday.
If you’re looking for a holiday with a difference make sure to search through the region’s self catering properties. As well as the more traditional apartments, chalets and cottages, you’ll also find a host of more unusual places to stay. From barn conversions to tree houses to shepherd huts and hobbit holes, there are lots of interesting properties to choose from so you can have a truly memorable holiday. If you like the sound of staying in a more unusual property, why not take a look at our glamping options?
While some of these properties are located on sites with lots of accommodation options, the majority are owned by individuals making them ideal for those of you planning a last minute get away or looking for a discounted rate. The owners will often have special offers for last minute bookings and off peak holidays, so they are a good option for anyone travelling on a budget.
With self-catering when and where you eat is entirely up to you meaning that you can really tantalise your taste buds with the abundance of local produce that can be found in North Devon, particularly in places like Ilfracombe which has become a real foodie destination.
If you don’t want to eat out, many of the self catering properties come with fully equipped kitchens and sizable tables so you can all cook and eat together, this is ideal for those of you who follow a strict diet or have allergies as you can be in control of the ingredients being used. Several properties come with outside areas, ideal for having bbqs in the summer months and for eating alfresco – what could be better than sitting on a veranda watching the sun come up over your breakfast?
Dog owners often prefer to stay in a self-catering property because they tend to have much more space, outdoor areas and many are marketed as being welcoming of pets.
Because these properties tend to be cottages or houses, you have plenty of room to have your own privacy if you’re travelling with the family or a group – it means that the kids can play together and not be in your way and with separate sleeping areas, you can choose to stay up later if you wish.
Those of you travelling in groups or with extended family may find this a good option as there are often several cottages in the same area, giving you the chance to holiday together without getting under each other’s feet. These are especially useful for those on stag and hen dos as you can come together for meals and fun, but also have space when needed.
